Thankfulness
November is the traditional American month for being thankful. Of course, the Bible tells us to be thankful all the time, but it’s nice to have a time to focus on gratitude. We all have so many blessings that we don’t deserve.
Our second session of the Translators’ Training Course 1 went remarkably well, and three different groups of new translators (11 in total) from four Solos villages got their first practice at drafting and self-checking a chapter of the Bible (Genesis 22). The West Buka Circuit of the United Church suspended their programs for the 2½ weeks of the course, the local church supplied their new church building for a venue, and the families (especially the ladies) of the fellowship groups in Tung village provided food every day for the participants. Four existing translators also served as mentors for the new translators. It was incredible to see the community rally around these new translators to ensure that they are trained well for the great work ahead!
Thank you for praying. As reported in previous letters, the first part of the course didn’t go as well with logistics and other problems, so it was a blessing to have things run so smoothly this time around. That doesn’t “just happen,” and we’re thankful that you were a part of that.
The Doyle family had a picture taken before Christy and Jacob (their youngest son) left for the U.S., where Christy is scheduled for foot surgery in November.
