Remembering Bill Hayton
On August 7, 2024, World Missions lost a dear friend when former missionary and former director, Bill Hayton, went to be with the Lord.
Bill and his wife, Linda, served as missionaries in the US and British Virgin Islands from 1969-1983. Bill served as Director of World Missions from 1983-2004. In later years, he also served as a board member.
Bill was loved by many. His entire life was devoted to ministry and serving in the Kingdom of God. He will be missed.
At the funeral, Philip Gumbs, Eastern Caribbean Overseer, presented a tribute to his mentor and brother in Christ. Former missionary Paul Confer also spoke of Bill’s influence on his family. Others spoke of his heart for ministry and life of service.
To honor the memory of this great man, the World Mission Board will be making a donation to the building project at Ebenezer Valley Camp, the youth camp for the Eastern Caribbean District in Virgin Gorda. A memorial stone will be placed on the campgrounds in his honor.
We are accepting additional donations toward this project in Bill Hayton’s memory. Youth Camp is a key event on the calendar of the EC churches each summer, and their building program will help it continue being a blessing to future generations.
