A Christmas Gift
Download this month's issue of The Harvest Times.
The gift came as a surprise: a generous donation for special projects for the Doyles’ ministry in Papua New Guinea, even though there wasn’t really an urgent need at the time.
Fast forward about five weeks. Since Amaziah’s last doctor’s visit in September, Christy had been weekly weighing her youngest son. The doctor was concerned that he was not gaining weight as expected. Now, the time had lapsed, and the doctor’s recommendation came—Larry and Christy needed to plan a trip to Australia for further tests.
However, the good news is that most of the special offering still remains and should cover the costs of their trip.
When the offering had been given, neither the World Mission Board nor the Doyles knew for sure that a trip would need to be made. But God knew, and provided the necessary funds before they were even requested.
However, this reminder of God’s love for humankind should not be a surprise. Every Christmas we celebrate His wisdom and foreknowledge. Indeed, that first Christmas He sent the most lavish gift in advance, providing for our salvation before we even knew we needed it.
The Apostle Paul stated it this way: “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” (Romans 5:8).
This Christmas, may you be reminded of the Father’s love for you expressed in the gift of His Son.
The Doyles live in Tung, a village in Papua New Guinea, with the goal of building a translation team to see the Bible translated into the Solos language.
They are trying to schedule an appointment with the doctor in Australia before the end of the year.
Please pray for Amaziah’s health. Although he seems to be a happy baby, he is not gaining weight properly.
